Our Products
Two purpose-engineered solid-state detector product lines covering clinical dosimetry through ultrafast FLASH radiation therapy monitoring.
Solid-State Tissue-Equivalent Detectors (SSTEDs)
SSTEDs are engineered to mimic the radiation dose response of human biological tissue, making them uniquely suited for any application where accurate measurement of human radiation exposure is critical.
Operating Principle
The detector material is selected and processed so that its atomic composition — and therefore its energy-dependent interaction cross-sections — closely track those of ICRU soft tissue. The result is a dose response that requires minimal correction factors, reducing measurement uncertainty and simplifying clinical workflows.
Key Characteristics
- Dose Response Tissue-equivalent across clinical energy ranges
- Form Factor Compact solid-state; no bias voltage required
- Applications In-vivo dosimetry, IMRT/SBRT QA, personnel dosimetry, radiation protection surveys
- Radiation Types Photons (X-rays & gamma), electrons, protons
- Operating Temp 0 °C to 50 °C
High Band Gap, High-Speed MSM Detectors (MSM)
Exploiting the unique properties of wide-band-gap semiconductor materials, RDS MSM detectors achieve sub-nanosecond response times that open an entirely new window into ultrafast radiation fields — including the emerging modality of FLASH radiation therapy.
Operating Principle
Two interdigitated metal contacts are deposited on the surface of a high-band-gap semiconductor wafer. When ionizing radiation is absorbed, electron-hole pairs are swept to the contacts by the applied bias field in picoseconds. The high band gap material suppresses dark current and allows operation at the extreme dose rates encountered in FLASH-RT — typically >40 Gy/s — without saturation or damage.
Key Characteristics
- Response Time Sub-nanosecond (<1 ns)
- Band Gap Wide band gap (>3 eV) — ultralow leakage current
- Max Dose Rate Compatible with FLASH-RT dose rates (>40 Gy/s)
- Applications FLASH-RT beam monitoring, pulsed X-ray characterisation, synchrotron beam diagnostics
- Bias Voltage Low bias (application-dependent)
